Airports of Thailand (AOT) lashed back at a Japanese travel website for their report on overpriced water sold in the departure hall at Don Mueang Airport, and instead, guided people to a little known, affordable cafeteria outside the terminal building.
In a statement on Facebook, AOT said that the Japanese report, which slammed Don Mueang’s THB40 water bottles, is “inaccurate” and that some airport vendors sell water for “less than THB10.”
The statement responded directly to the article shared on Facebook by Japanese expat Akihiro Koki Tomikawa, which created a discussion on Thai social media.
“Mr. Koki shared a report that a water bottle costs THB40, that report is inaccurate because the shops at the airports sell a 500ml water bottle for less than THB10 while a mineral water can cost THB25-50 depending on the brand,” the statement said vaguely.
“AOT has also asked for cooperation from the vendors to include at least one budget dish on their menu and ensure that all products have price tags. We have also publicized that there is a free water machine and affordable food court available.”
Where can we find that magical THB10 airport water? AOT posted photos of the normal-priced water bottles from the sad cafeteria located in the parking lot, which entirely missed the point of the discussion by angered flyers who are forced to buy overpriced drinks inside the departure hall.

Either way, in case you’re interested at eating at an airport food court (as opposed to grabbing food before heading to Don Mueang or inside the terminal), here’s a video of the direction to the Magic Food Point, where you can buy a somtam at THB30 and a water for as low as THB7.
