A group of students from Thammasat University will gather at the university’s Tha Prachan campus this afternoon to read a statement opposing the army’s coup d’etat, according to an annoucement distributed online.
According to tweets addressed to members of the media, the students have set up a protest group they’re calling the “Thai Student Center For Democracy.” In their message, the asked members of the public to gather at 2:30pm today at the Faculty of Liberal Arts to read a group statement pressuring the military to nullify the coup.
The students plan to hold this event despite the junta banning public gatherings of more than five people.
The event will be followed by public discussions, poems and music until 6pm, according to organizers.
