Yet another antique bomb was discovered at a construction site in Bang Sue district this morning.
What appeared to be another 70-year-old bomb from World War II was unearthed by workers digging along the planned red line of the SRT rail system.
Authorities said the object was discovered at the site while workers were using a backhoe to dig up the ground, 50 meters away from the spot where they discovered a similar bomb in April.
The explosive appeared to be a dud and was identified as a 500-pound bomb, assumed to have been dropped on Bangkok during World War II and Japanese occupation.
The bomb is 30 centimeters wide and 177 centimeters long, weighing over 500 pounds (227 kilograms). It was discovered in an area that will become an SRT station.
The area has been sealed off for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams to investigate and remove the bomb, Nation TV and NNT reported.
Previously, seven people died and nearly 100 homes were damaged when welders cut into a similar recovered bomb at a scrap shop on Soi Lat Plakalo 72.
Police have charged the yard operator with negligence, Thai PBS reported. Nothing was said of who made the decision to sell the enormous, antique explosive.
