After killing a police officer with her Mercedes, Anna Reese finally struck a deal with the officer’s family over compensation on Saturday, and she vowed to become a nun, again.
After Anna previously refused to pay the THB6.2 million proposed by the family of Pol. Lt. Napadol Wongbandit, whom she killed when she crashed into his car as he slept on the roadside of a motorway, the 27-year-old actress settled for an undisclosed sum with his family in a meeting on Saturday.
“We have reached an agreement. Both parties are satisfied,” Anna said. “I’d prefer not to disclose the sum of money.”
In the previous session, Anna rejected the THB6.2 million proposed by Napadol’s family. Of the THB6.2 million, Anna’s insurance company agreed to pay THB1.2 million, leaving THB5 million for the actress to pay. She refused and offered THB2 million instead
The police officer’s wife Chantana Wongbundut, initially asked the actress to pay THB7.2 million as the officer had 15 years or more of his career left and he had two children, Khaosod English reported.
Early on June 26, Anna crashed her Mercedes into a parked police car on a motorway, killing the officer inside. Napadol, a 44-year-old inspector with the Suphanburi Police Department, was found dead with a cracked skull in the driver’s seat while Anna suffered minor injuries.
She refused to be arrested and had a mental breakdown at the scene, yelling she was “not ready [to be arrested].” The actress was allowed to go home and she didn’t take an alcohol or drugs test until almost 12 hours later when she turned herself in.
If convicted, Anna could face 10 years in jail and another six months for not cooperating with police at the scene.
