A large ten-wheeler truck fell into a sinkhole on Soi Sukhumvit 64/1 late Wednesday morning, prompting city officials to warn commuters not to pass through the area.
At around 11:40am today, the heavy truck was passing through the soi when the road underneath it collapsed. The vehicle’s rear of the truck fell into the hole, severely impacting traffic that extends toward Bangna intersection.
Initial reports indicate that two people were injured, and all three lanes of the road were affected. The Metropolitan Electricity Authority said they are aware of the accident and are working to resolve the issue.
This comes right after a similar incident on Monday evening, when the weight of a large truck passing through Ratchaprarop road near the Makkasan-Chaturathit caused the road to collapse.
So whose fault is it anyway? Heavy trucks, or shitty roads? We’ll no doubt be seeing fingers being pointed in all directions as both incidents are officially investigated.
