An American man stabbed himself inside a Phuket police station yesterday.
Police said the man walked into the station at about 8pm claiming that someone was following him. They asked for his passport and discovered that he had overstayed his permit by a year.
After putting him in a cell to await transfer to immigration, the man stabbed himself three times in the throat with an unknown object. Bleeding heavily, he was taken for treatment to Vachira Phuket Hopsital, where he remains under police guard, the Phuket News reported.
