An American boutique hotel brand is coming to Bangkok and its favorite coastal getaway.
Adding to its six hotels in Los Angeles, Miami Beach, New York, London and the Maldives, The Standard will open in Bangkok’s Mahanakhon building – but not until after a 199-room property debuts in Hua Hin later this year.
Set to open Dec. 1 next door to the Laksasubha and around the corner from the Centara Hua Hin, The Standard Hua Hin promises a range of rooms, suites, and villas inspired by its Miami location, plus a beach bar, “buzzing” restaurant, and more.
The food and beverage options include cocktails and Italian bites at all-day-dining spot Lido’s al fresco, sea-facing perch; Thai favorites served at Praca’s restored heritage house; and fresh juices and coffee at Juice Cafe.
Not long after the Hua Hin opening, the brand will finish its other Thai development. In 2022, The Standard Bangkok Mahanakhon will open in the King Power Mahanakhon tower, with 155 rooms taking over the building’s long-vacant hotel space after two others backed out – Marriott’s Edition and Accor Hotel’s Orient Express.
While details remain scant, we do know it will include Chinese restaurant Mott 32. Born in Hong Kong, where it has several locations, the expanding restaurant boasts outposts in Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, Las Vegas and Vancouver, with plans in the works for spots in Seoul and Dubai.
The Standard Hua Hin is already accepting bookings at special rates. For more information, visit the hotel website.
