All about the Chases: Man arrested with bundle of forged $10,000 bills

It was a beautiful scam. Crisp, counterfeit U.S. bank notes in a high denomination, printed with painstaking care. If the printing crew had been able to circulate the bills, they would have netted about THB145 million.

Just a couple flaws in the plan: First and most forgivably, they misspelled* San Franscisco as “Nan Prancisco” – maybe they should have hired a copy editor. The truly fatal mistake however was the fact that the United States hasn’t printed USD10,000 notes in about 70 years.

Thus it was the Wachirawit Janchareonchaisilp, 39, was taken into custody by Phuket tourist police Sunday with a pile of 482 “$10,000” notes in his possession.

Police were lying in wait for him inside a Central Department Store after receiving a tip, they said.

Wachirawit has been charged with posessing and intending to use counterfeit cash, Bangkok Post reported.

*Fun fact: one of the most misspelled words is “misspelled.”
