In a surprising turn, taxi drivers canceled their strike this past weekend at Suvarnabhumi Airport after striking a deal with airport authorities.
Under the rules agreed to, taxi vans will not be required to carry more more than four people, according to a report in state media, so long as they use the meter, don’t charge extra luggage fees, and take them to their desired destination without dumping them along the way.
Although taxi drivers agreed to cancel the hyped-up strike that had been making the rounds on social media, they are still waiting for approval of an expected fare hike that was canceled last week.
Officials suggest passengers should hang onto their printed service receipts in case of bad service.
