After death of inmate in fire, police asked to pay for kids’ education

National Police Commissioner Adul Saengsingkaew has been requested to pay for the education of the children of one of the four inmates who perished during a fire last week at the Sai Noi police station in Nonthaburi.

Adul met with the relatives of the victims and handed them THB20,000 each by way of assistance. As Adul promised to get to the bottom of the incident, the father of one of the detainees said his son has two small children. He added that his daughter-in-law has quit her job to take care of their two young children.

Prasarn Sornsilp appealed to Adul to consider paying for the children’s education now that they had lost their father. The detainee, 22-year-old Wasan Sornsilp, was arrested for drunk driving.

Investigations are being conducted as to why the detainees were not freed during the fire, the Nation reported.
