Thai government officials said repairing the ecosystem surrounding the oil spill disaster area in Koh Samet will span a year and require the expertise of seven committees.
Area samples have been collected to assess contamination, heavy metals and the overall affects of the spill on air and sea quality, the sand, and marine environments. The analysis of the results will conclude next Tuesday and followup testing on air and sea quality toxicity will be done shortly thereafter.
Authorities will now begin a month long investigation to search for the cause of PTTGC’s oil spill, MCOT reported.
