A number of Thai banks have set up call centers to help customers who have been scammed.

Starting today, those who fear their bank account was siphoned by scammers call up to complain or plead for assistance from five major banks.

In addition to the fight against scams, the Government Savings Bank announced it would no longer send SMS messages to customers with URLs. The bank said customers who do receive links should assume those messages are fake.

The steps come as widespread scams continue to trick unsuspecting victims into surrendering large sums of money, usually with no recourse available.

The bank hotlines are as follows:

Bangkok Bank 1333 or 0-2645-555 then 3

Bank of Ayudhya 1572 then 5

Kasikorn Bank 0-2888-8888 then 001

Krung Thai Bank 0-2111-111 then 108

Siam Commercial Bank 0-2777-7575
