4G auctions in November, it is said

Although history makes it difficult to take seriously claims of imminent action on the matter, telecom regulators yesterday were “ordered” to schedule a long-awaited auction of 4G licenses.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayuth Chan-o-cha chaired the digital committee which ordered the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission to auction the licenses no later than November.

The committee decided two 4G licenses under the 1800MHz spectrum with 15MHz each will be auctioned off to move adoption forward. Getting ahold of the spectrum had been held up when the labor guild of state-owned CAT Telecom refused to give it up.

The government expects its coffers to swell by up to THB39.7 billion from the auction, Thai PBS reported.
