2 killed, 24 injured in bus crash on Bangkok-Loei route

Two people were killed early this morning when a bus traveling from Bangkok to Loei crashed into a car that reportedly jumped a red light.

The crash, which took place around 2.40am in Chaiyaphum province, also injured the car driver and 23 people from the bus, Thai PBS reported.

Some of the injured passengers on the bus, which was carrying 50 people, claimed the car jumped a red light at an intersection and was traveling at high speed when the bus collided with it.

Bus driver Pramuam Lampha had swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting the car but instead rammed into the front of the car. The bus then flipped over, landing in a ditch.

The two dead were passengers in the car, while the car driver, Krishna Kamma, 50, was seriously injured after being trapped in the vehicle.

He and the 23 injured bus passengers were sent to Chaiyaphum hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating.
