13-year-old girl raped, thrown off train

The body of a teen girl who vanished from a Bangkok-bound train Sunday night was found early this morning alongside the tracks.

Police arrested 22-year-old Wanchai Saengkao, a worker from a private company contracted to clean the train, who they say confessed to raping and killing Kochakorn “Kaem” Pitakjumnong, 13, while she slept in her compartment.

Her body was found at 4:10am this morning in bushes near Pran Buri National Park in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

Wanchai told the police he had been fancying the 13-year-old girl ever since she boarded the train in Suratthani. After drinking beer with other workers on Sunday night, he decided to rape the girl in her bed before shoving her out through the train’s window while still alive.

After Wanchai’s confession, police searched for the girl’s body and found her in bushes two kilometers from Pran Buri National Park this morning.

Kotchakorn boarded a Bangkok-bound train in Surat Thani on Sunday afternoon. She was travelling with her sister and sister’s boyfriend.

“Around midnight, I made sure my sister went to bed,” Kotchakorn’s sister says, “I woke up around 4am to check on her, but when I opened her bed’s curtain, she was missing.”

The police walked through a reenactment with Wanchai at 9am this morning, Thairath and Morning News reported.
