10,000 farmers agree to turn their tractors around and head home

They rolled in from the north by bus, truck and atop tractors. About 10,000 farmers set to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport this afternoon have agreed to turn back and head home.

The had been set to rally at the airport to air their anger over being denied payment under the rice scheme.

A former politcian of Chart Thai Pattana Party, Chada Thaiseth, said they accepted assurances made by the government today that farmers would receive their money.

He added they had never intended to shut down or disrupt operations at the airport, NNT reported.
