A total of 100 police officers suspected of having links to influential criminals have been transferred pending investigation.
Most of these police officers are based at provincial police bureaus, Thai PBS reported.
National police chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda said any police officers found to be associated with criminal syndicates or mafia-style figures would face disciplinary action, while those cleared of any links would be reinstated.
The move comes after police recently announced an expansion of their crackdown on organized crime.
“Anyone involved irrespective of rank or standing will be brought to justice,” said Royal Thai Army commander-in chief Gen Thirachai Narkwanich.
