Things that are cool: art galleries, handcrafted furniture, authentic restaurants, sexy modern condos. Where you can find cool things: Phra Khanong. The area is quickly heating up as one of the city’s most exciting up and coming ‘hoods. Complete with a convenient BTS stop, Phra Khanong has all of the trimmings to become the next Thonglor. Just watch this video to see what we’re talking about.

If I Were a Carpenter

Phra Khanong is delightfully low key yet still offers an array of awesome spots that would please any hipster with good taste. For starters, If I Were a Carpenter is a Kinfolk-y furniture shop that uses reclaimed wood sourced around Bangkok. Even if you’re not in the market to buy new home decor, the space alone is so cool to look at that it’s worth a visit.

Goja Gallery Cafe

Rebel Art Space

To appreciate the arts, there’s Rebel Art Space. Artists with residency at the place range from locals to internationals, painters to sculptors, young to old. It’s the perfect spot to soak up culture in the capital. Keep supporting budding artists by stopping by Goja Gallery Cafe, one of Phra Khanong’s best spots to get your caffeine fix whether you’re sipping on espresso in the AM or meeting a hot date in the PM. Live music, cool DJs, and Japanese beer are extra incentives to head to Goja after the sun goes down.

Okinawa Kinjo restaurant

Fill up before going out at one of Phra Khanong’s solid eateries. Okinawa Kinjo restaurant is a nearly decade old authentic Japanese joint where you’ll find fantastic Okinawan cuisine (which dates back 600 years BTW). For Thai/Chinese food, Chuo Kim Heng is a 38 years old restaurant cooking from recipes that have been around for 60 years. These dishes have been passed down from owner Surin Chaiwiwattana’s grandfather. Pro tip: order the 5 spice goose, the restaurant’s signature dish and arguably the best place to eat it in the entire Kingdom.

It’s a buyers market in Phra Khanong too, with hot high rises adding to the Bangkok landscape. Case in point: Sansiri’s The Line Sukhumvit 71, a 28-storey condo building boasting the most modern residences in the neighborhood with an amazing view. The fully furnished digs are close to the Phra Khanong BTS stop, making it simple to get home morning, noon, and night. Check out The Line Sukhumvit 71’s unique floor plans and more details here.

Don’t fall behind, head over to Phra Khanong ASAP to start enjoying the neighborhood’s newly recognized glory.
