With a combination of lush greenery and a waterfront location directly on Pattaya’s beautiful Tawanron Beach, the Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach provides a luxurious getaway from the city center (that being said, central Pattaya is still only a short drive away). And in addition to the beautiful rooms, top-notch amenities, and stellar customer service that you’d expect from the brand, the resort also has something that you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere else: a Thai “Village Square” right on-site.
Okay, so while it’s not a literal village square, Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach’s “Village Square” is the resort’s way of redefining the standard (read:boring) approach to resort dining. Here, the Village Square is meant to replicate a traditional Thai village where guests can feel like they’re part of a community. Unlike a traditional Thai village, though, Village Square serves up cuisines from around the globe, thanks to its three restaurants and the nearby “Fish Club” located right on the beach. From breakfast to dinner, the range of dishes and cuisines ensures that even the pickiest of eaters will find something they’ll enjoy, making this a perfect vacation spot for large parties (including those with fussy little ones), as well as diners who love trying out new food spots.

Additionally, the venue is dedicated to utilizing a supply network of local, sustainable, and seasonal produce across all of their kitchens. For example, the majority of their herbs, spices, and vegetables come directly from the onsite herb garden. Other ingredients used in the eateries include pork products from a Bangkok-based butcher, organic honey from a family-owned apiary in Rayong, and organic free-range chickens and eggs from a nearby farm.
“The Andaz brand celebrates the unique personality of its destinations, and that is exactly what we are aiming to achieve in our culinary concepts here at Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach in Thailand,” said Alexis Movio, Director of Food & Beverage at Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach. “With local, sustainable and seasonal ingredients, tiki sundowners crafted using Thai spirits, and tableware made from local ceramics, each of our outlets will create a unique sense of place. Most importantly, guests will be immersed in a lively and social atmosphere reminiscent of a Thai village.”

As you are in Thailand after all, arguably the best first stop on a tour of the Village Square is Wok Wok, whose kitchen is stocked with all the herbs and spices (fair warning: with a true Thai approach to cooking, they don’t go light on the spices) that you’d find in Thai kitchens across the country. The eatery’s laid back vibes provide the perfect backdrop for a Thai feast, with Wok Wok’s menu covering classic dishes from across the country. To go down the full-on traditional route, start with some som tum and tom yam goong, and get the pad thai or a khao soi for a main. The curries are also packed with flavors and come featuring a wide assortment of proteins—if you’re a large party, opt to share the stand-out Alaskan king crab yellow curry. Cool down those taste buds with some mango sticky rice, or some sweet kanom ko.

The next stop in Village Square is La Cucina, an Italian restaurant whose warm lighting, wood-fired oven in the open kitchen in the center of the floor, and small decorative details like hand painted blue and white tiles all contribute to that full intimate Italian trattoria atmosphere.

The stars of the show here are, naturally, the fresh pasta and pizzas (the latter being baked directly in the wood-fired oven). If you’re into seafood, don’t miss the paccheri all’aragosta with tomato sauce and succulent Boston lobster (it’s a large portion, so it’s also perfect for sharing), the homemade squid ink ravioli in spicy tomato sauce, and the spaghetti alle vongole veraci made with Italian clams.

For pizza, you can’t go wrong with a classic margherita or a more spicy diavola, while those in the mood for something different should opt for the seafood-filled fisherman’s pizza, or the rolled pancetta and black truffle pizza.
Last but not least, no village is complete without a local butcher, and rounding out the Village Square trilogy is the Village Butcher. As the name suggests, the steakhouse specializes in meats of different cuts and origins, most of which are grilled in an impressive Pira charcoal oven.

Coming with an empty stomach? Get the decadent surf and turf, which combines Boston lobster and ribeye wagyu, or the hearty grilled Australian tomahawk steak. There are also plenty of non-beef options, including the zesty grilled Patagonian toothfish, a full rack of Australian lamb in piri piri sauce, and classic barbeque pork ribs.

Not in the mood for a full-on meal? Stroll on down to the Fish Club, whose more informal poolside vibes serve as the perfect complement to the Village Square’s sit-down eateries. Spend your afternoons catching some rays while you snack on light nibbles like tacos and fish and chips.

In the evening, grab a seat outdoors to take in the unparalleled views of the sun setting over the ocean while the kitchen grills your choice of locally-sourced seafood over coconut husks. The party kicks off later in the night when live DJs take center stage to really put the “club” in Fish Club.
