After Balenciaga launched a colorful tote that totally looked like our cheap plastic market bags earlier this year, here comes the next fashion statement clutch to get Thais laughing because it looks like one of the products they look at everyday.
Photos of New York-based fashion blogger Kyrzayda Rodriguez and her questionable “clutch” purse have recently circulated in the Thai realm of social network — because that bag sure looks like the cheap carpet that many Thais have outside their doors or on the floor in front of the sink.
Rodriguez’s fashion post was picked up by famous Facebook page Nunoiduak last week, who pointed out how beautiful our Thai craft actually is.

“I respect and am amazed by her ideas so much. Our local crafts should be exposed this way. Thai people are as talented as others,” the page’s admin wrote.
The colorful fabric carpets are usually produced by communities in the rural provinces. They cost around THB10 – THB20 each.

So now you can buy a THB10 carpet and make a stylish bag out of it instead of paying at least USD200 for it on Nomad Tribe, an online marketplace that sold the blogger that bag.
But seriously, Rodriguez does look super stylish working that colorful accessory.
