Be prepared, bookworms — the gargantuan book sale Big Bad Wolf is coming back to Bangkok in August, running 11 days, 24-hours a day, like the true shopping marathon that it is.

Returning for the fourth year in Thailand, the sale will feature more than three million books, mostly in English, with discounts ranging from 50 percent up to 90 percent. Titles are available in all genres, from young adult fiction and bestselling novels to self-help and hardcover encyclopedias, so it’s a sale that’s friendly for all ages and a seriously irresistible haven for bibliophiles.

What is different from the previous years, though: Event organizers this time around collaborated with local publishers in Thailand, namely Nanmee, Se-ed and Naiin, to bring some Thai-language books to readers. Meanwhile, parents can take their kids to the “library of Magical Books” where augmented reality (AR) children’s books are sold (expect interactive bedtime stories such as Little Red Riding Hood or Goldilocks in which characters “come to life”).

The warehouse book sale is dubbed as the world’s largest book sale. Founded by a book-loving couple named Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng, its first event took place in 2009 at Malaysia’s Selangor before spreading to many other countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan. It came to Thailand for the first time in 2016 with more than two million books.

The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 2019 will run all day and all night from August 9 through August 19 at Impact Forum Hall 4 inside Impact Muang Thong Thani. The venue can be reached by Impact Link shuttle bus from BTS Mo Chit or MRT Chatuchak.
