If you’re looking for a fun staycation that’s within driving distance from Bangkok and that’s got a little something for everyone, may we humbly recommend you block off a few days in mid-February for the DP World Tour Thailand Classic (which will be returning to Thailand for the first time in seven years)? And if you just read that and are assuming this is another stuffy golf tournament for just the golfheads in the family, we promise you that it’s not! So what makes the DP World Tour Thailand Classic a truly family-friendly event? Why, we’re so glad you asked.

First off, let’s talk the golf part: in case you’re unfamiliar, the general DP World Tour is the premier men’s professional golf tour within The European Tour. Currently, its 2023 schedule has over 30 tournaments lined up in 26 countries around the world. A ton of prominent Thai (and international) golfers have already been confirmed for the Thailand Classic, including Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Thongchai Jaidee, TK Chantananuwat, Thomas Bjørn, Kwanchai Tannin, Rafa Cabrera Bello, and the Højgaard twins. Across the four-day tournament, all of the action will also be broadcast on a giant LED screen so you can chill with a drink without having to worry about missing a single thrilling second!

But like we said, this isn’t an event that’s solely catered towards golf fanatics. In fact, foodies will have their hands (and stomachs) full as they check out the array of international food and beverage vendors that will be catering the affair, including a number of Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded vendors serving up fresh delicacies at reasonable prices. The food stalls will be located in the family-friendly fan village, which is set up to ensure that no member of the family has to miss out on a fun weekend. The little ones can keep themselves busy in the game-filled kids’ zone, and at the end of the day, everyone can regroup and enjoy dinner as live music acts take the stage. Hitting bays equipped with golf simulators will also be available for those wanting to take part in their own (friendly) golf tournament!

Lastly, atmosphere is everything, and there’s no better location for this extravaganza than the gorgeous green landscape of the luscious Amata Spring Country Club. In fact, since the venue is conveniently located right outside Bangkok, we’d recommend treating yourselves a little bit and booking a staycation for a change of scenery!
The DP World Tour Thailand Classic will take place from February 16 to 19. Tickets are available now and can be purchased online.
