Five months after their first audition, “Wheelchair Dance,” a group of disabled dancers from Chiang Mai, was voted the winner of Thailand’s Got Talent Season 4 last night after putting on a tear-jerking performance.
By having one member intentionally fall out of his wheelchair and get back up with the help of his friends, the routine pushed the emotional “win” button with audiences and drew the most SMS votes.
“We have fallen many times, but our hearts stay strong,” read the screen behind the performers after the fall. “We would like to support to everyone to stand up and fight.”
The team has been given a THB10 million check, which cover their tuition at and a further donation to the Srisangwan Chiang Mai School, a school for physically impaired children. They said the money would also go toward treatment for their friends at school who need to “get better.”
