Welcome to Weekend Warrior, where we offer you a few ideas to kick-start your weekend of mayhem. Warriors, go forth.
Friday
Lush at Hotel Muse
Already an impressive sight in its own right, Bangkok’s Hotel Muse will tonight be transformed into a high-class, super-awesome party omnibus, as Lush music festival sets about turning the hotel’s grounds into a sprawling, superabundant party. With five stages (including rooftop and poolside locales) and 20 DJs, tonight’s festivities should offer plenty in the way of party fuel. Lush is also advertising the presence of “reasonably priced drinks,” which bodes well for the proceedings.
9pm. THB900 (includes two drinks before 11pm and one drink after 11pm). Hotel Muse. BTS Ratchardamri station.
Saturday
Air Guitar Competition at Bed Bazaar II
Though Bed Supperclub has recently announced its retirement, we still have three more months worth of chic entertainment to look forward to from the Bangkok nightlife institution. Bed Bazaar II, following close on the heels of its well-received first iteration, offers exciting dalliances in film, music and…air guitar. As part of this Bed Bazaar the club will be hosting an air guitar competition, so dust off your best moves and spend the next 24-hours watching Guns and Roses videos in order to warm up your chops.
9pm. THB400 (includes one drink). Bed Supperclub. BTS Phrom Phong station.
USA Fair 2013 at Central World
Having recently celebrated 180 years of strategic alignment, Thailand and the United States are continuing to fete their friendship by indulging in the most American of past times – orgiastic consumerism. Throughout the weekend, Central World will be giving away prizes from American brands (including Coca-Cola, KFC and Apple), as well as offering discounts on American-made items such as Ford cars, Pringles chips and Campbell’s soups. For a moment, Bangkok will feel just like the United States, except with much fewer guns and far more health insurance.
10am – 10pm. Free. Central World. BTS Chit Lom station.
Unspoken Dialogue at JAM
In celebration of its one-year anniversary, JAM is putting on a multimedia display that calls from almost all corners of Bangkok’s artistic community. Corn & Chip 7 will be putting on the main display, while a coven of Bangkok’s more talented sticker graffiti artists will be on hand to pass around some of their wares. Capo Ultra, Payback DJs and DJ Mighty NP will provide the evening’s audio constituent.
7pm. Free. JAM, 41 Soi Rong Nam Kang.
