It’s time to bust out sailor hats for the latest theme party from Trasher’s oddball organizers: Thaitanic. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s love epic is getting cross-dressed with Thai culture on a boat docked in Sathorn on Friday night. Get ready for sing-along pop tunes, a costume contest and surprise performance. Dress code is vintage, navy or Titanic passenger (low-budge cosplay more than welcome).

ISAAN SHAKEDOWN: Paradise Bangkok Fifth Anniversary

Giddy up for this evening of mo lam and lae, traditional folk music from Isaan province with extra-spicy, electronic beats. It’s the first time female industry stars Kwanjit Sriprajan and Yenjit Porntawi are performing live together onstage, supported by DJs Maft Sai, Chris Menist and Paradise Bangkok’s resident mo lam band.

CHOW DOWN: Inaugural Chicken Wing Eating Contest

How many chicken wings can be consumed in 10 minutes? That is the penultimate question at Sway’s first ever wing-eating competition. The battle starts with three pounds, no utensils allowed and sauce is contestant’s choice. After that, it’s wing after wing with the winner being crowned by highest weight of meat ingested. First prize (besides fever sweats and potential diarrhea) is THB2,500 and additional prizes. Check out a few of the competitor’s on the event’s Facebook page and start hedging your bets!

SMOOTH TUNES: Bangkok Jazz Collective

Siam Paragon’s cinema is setting a different kind of stage this weekend: an eclectic line-up of international jazz artists. Japanese bossa nova crooner Lisa Ono performs with musicians like acclaimed Canadian jazz trumpeter Ingrid Jensen and Thai pianist Den Yuprasert.

ARTISAN YUMS: Spring Epicurean Market

The Spring Summer restaurant open its garden for a fresh and healthy end to the month. Blankets and picnic baskets will be laid down on the grass, with the opportunity to wander around and try samples from local artisan vendors like Horn Cider and Conkey’s Bakery.

MIDDLE-AGED: Gregorian Chant Performance

The AUG Choir presents sacred music from the Roman Catholic Church’s ancient tradition of Gregorian chanting. The songs will be performed in the Neilson Hays rotunda gallery, a beautiful setting with stellar acoustics.
