Welcome to the Weekend Warrior, wherein we prepare you for the night that will last a generation, when the Others sweep through the kingdom riding their dead horses, hunting with their packs of pale spiders big as hounds.

BURMESE PUNK: Bloodsugar Politik

As Myanmar keeps opening up, its local music scene is also thriving – ask Bloodsugar Politik for yourself at their debut Bangkok gig. The Rangon punk-ska band has become known for its smart but searing lyrics and lately, a few more politically charged ones too (since that shit just wouldn’t fly a few years ago). But expect a lot more than headbanging from these punk rockers – they’ve got enough catchy material to hook anyone that’s into indie rock. Bloodsugar Politik also plays two shows on RCA, one tonight, Thursday, at Rehab and anotehr Saturday at Cosmic Café, with US synth-pop duo Unicorn Domination.
8 pm. Free entry. The Overstay, Charin Sanit Wong 80 to 82. BTS Krung Thonburi.

It’s hard not to get the warm and fuzzies from this quirky indie rock act out of Birmngham, England. That’s probably also why tickets for Swim Deep also sold out at breakneck speed – we could all use a little happy-go-lucky in our lives, right? If you’re eager to hear hits like “Honey” and “She Changes the Weather” live, look out for Bangkokians trying to unload on last-minute tickets online. This gig guarantees a little boogie.
8 pm. Mongkol RCA Studio, Royal City Avenue. MRT Petchaburi.
CLASS ACT: The Rivals (Ching Nang)

The Rivals, a Thai-language period drama produced by Burapha University, was such at its international arts festival last year, the production is now being staged at the M Theatre in Ekkamai. Directed by Apirak Chaipanha with thoughtful prose from King Vajiravudh.

Mexican artist Fernando Aceves calls himself a “nomadic painter”: traveling the world, recreating on canvas the beauty that he sees. “Wounded Eden” is the latest solo exhibition from the accomplished artist and chances are you, may recognize a few of these landscapes: the paintings and sketches are based on Aceves’ travels through Thailand and Cambodia over the last few months, from Sihanoukville up along the Mekong River. Opening reception starts at 7 pm with a pre-jam by French musician Louis Bertignac, but the work is on display at Toot Yung Art Center until March 15.
7 pm. Toot Yung Art Center, Ekkamai 2. BTS Ekkamai.

Two experimental musicians will fill the cozy space at Jam on Saturday night.
