We’ve been to dozens upon dozens of dispensaries (for research purposes, of course!) and have seen the good, the bad, and the really dank. But a site visit to one certain Bangkok weed spot took our breath away and really had that wow factor that has earned this dispensary the special distinction of being worth a repeat visit or two (or 420, if we’re being real).
Set in trendy Khlong Toei is the Thailand flagship shop of international cannabis super brand, Royal Queen Seeds. With a prime corner location on the buzzing Asoke intersection of Sukhumvit and Ratchadapisek, we couldn’t help but gape at their marijuna-leaf-green, five-floor shop front – the space is huge, at 1,000 square meters! A vibrant lit up sign, striking product display seen through big glass windows, a line of bar stools out front, and canna-related wall doodles all make it impossible for you to walk past this Amsterdam-style coffee shop without noticing it.
From the moment we stepped inside, we knew we were in good hands as we were immediately greeted by one of the shop’s many energetic, friendly budtenders ready to help us. As you would expect from any upstanding dispensary, Royal Queen Seeds has got expert budtenders on standby to assist you with product recommendations and advise you on how to best use products for desired effects. That’s industry standard. But RQS has built its international reputation on the quality of its seed bank and their dedication to innovation in cannabis genetics, so we had exceptional expectations for their stock and their team. And boy, did they not disappoint.
We can’t go too much into specifics here beyond the seeds, but we will say this: their stock was comprehensive, with an extensive range of products, predominantly homegrown with much coming from their own farm upcountry, but also featuring some imported goods, along with plenty of accessories to boot. We were spoiled for choice and loved how tailored the experience was; the budtenders eagerly answered all of our questions and assessed our needs based on how often we imbibe, what kind of vibe we were in the mood for, budget, and whatnot. Suffice it to say, we were highly satisfied with their product recommendations, the budtenders knocked it out of the park.
And we’d be remiss if we didn’t shout out one of our favorite parts of the RQS Bangkok flagship shop: the chill lounge. Set on the second floor, this was the stylish lounge of our stoner dreams. As we’ve mentioned, we’ve been to heaps of dispensaries in Bangkok, but this was one of our favorites to date thanks to how great the vibe was for partaking in herbal festivities and how cool it’s been decorated: big comfy leather sofas spaced out with some tables scattered here and there giving the feeling of people around without being overly crowded, Instagrammable neon signs and decorative plants, and a big glass wall so we could see the gallery cafeteria area (which is where RQS will host various special events, so watch this space!).
Oh, and if you have any cannabis growing aspirations or simply just want to know more about how to hone your green thumb, we strongly recommend hitting up the folks at RQS for tips and seeds. They’ve got varieties of seeds and even have a learning center to educate the canna-curious on all things marijuana. They are certainly one of the most responsible dispensaries in Bangkok who care and know about everything that goes into each of their products, and it sure shows from a visit to their flagship shop.
