Warhols from private collection to show 3 months in Bangkok (Updated)

The original king of pop art who elevated commercial branding to the gallery wall is coming to a Bangkok gallery for a three-month show.

From August through November, Andy Warhol Pop Art will feature a private collection of 128 of Warhol’s works – all originals – at RCB Gallery, a contemporary art venue on the second floor of River City Bangkok.

“Never before has an international exhibition of this scale and stature been shown in Thailand,” River City Bangkok wrote Saturday in its announcement.

Warhol was an American artist who became a leading figure of the 1960s visual art movement aka “Pop Art.” Some of his best known works are silkscreen paintings of Campbell’s Soup Cans, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley.

Andy Warhol Pop Art will run August 12 through November 24 at RCB Gallery, which sits on the second floor of lifestyle shopping mall River City Bangkok. Early-bird tickets are available online

The venue is located on Soi Charoen Krung 24 and it’s best reached via BTS Saphan Taksin.

The gallery’s ongoing exhibition is Something Nouveau, an immersive multimedia exhibition that shows masterpieces and lesser-knowns from three artists of the Art Nouveau movement: Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha and Aubrey Beardsley.
