SPONSORED – White hot up-and-coming electronic act Porter Robinson will be gracing Bangkok with his presence next month at the You2Play Party Revolucion! concert presented by Bacardi on Oct. 9. Although he’s not as well-known as some of his contemporaries like Skrillex or Avicii, he’s arguably the genre’s fastest rising star and many critics expect him to be a household name once his new album drops at the end of the year.
Robinson started mixing at just 13-years-old using a beat up Sony ACID Pro to emulate the sounds he heard from video games like Dance Dance Revolution. From those humble beginnings, Robinson’s career seems to have had a hockey stick-like trajectory. From his parents house in Chapel Hill, North Carolina the precocious teen honed his chops and in 2010, at the tender age of 18, he released his first single “Say my name.”

A year later, in the summer of 2011, he upped the ante with his first EP Spitfire, which rocketed to number one on the iTunes Dance chart and Beatport’s overall release chart. Incredibly, Beatport reported that their servers were so overwhelmed by Spitfire downloads that the site crashed for the first time ever. Check out his site crashing single from that year “Wildcat” below:

Fast forward two years later and Robinson is an established force in the industry. He had toured with Skrillex and other major acts. He has played at major festivals like the Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Music Festival, the Electric Zoo, Coachella, Tomorrowland, and Lollapalooza. What’s more, he’s netted a treasure trove of accolades. He was featured twice in the Billboard 21 Under 21 and was voted number 40 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs List for 2012. Currently he’s working on an album, which he aims to have finished and released before the end of 2013.
This dude’s got game.
Today at just 21, Robinson is already a veteran with three albums and six singles under his belt. If you’re unfamiliar with Robinson, two tracks you’re sure to enjoy are his 2012 single “Language,” which was a runaway worldwide success, and his 2013 fan favorite “Easy,” which was produced with Matt Zo.

The City of Angels is Robinson’s sixth stop on an Asian tour that is taking him to packed venues in Hong Kong, Beijing, New Delhi, Singapore, Jakatra, KL, and various cities around Australia.
You can catch him on Oct. 9th at Centerpoint Studio for the You2Play Party Revolucion! presented by Bacardi.
Tickets are available here on ThaiTicketMajor for the very reasonable price of THB800, and you can join the You2Play Party Revolucion! presented by Bacardi Facebook event page here.
