Travis Scott to headline Pattaya’s Rolling Loud Thailand fest

Thailand’s edition of Miami’s infamously rowdy hip-hop festival announced Travis Scott as its first headliner today.

Scott is the first of 66 artists to play the three-day Rolling Loud festival during Songkran next year at Pattaya’s Legend Siam amusement park.

Scott’s career, a prominent figure in the hip-hop industry, has seen him achieve four No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, along with 80 total charted songs. Additionally, he has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards and won a Billboard Music Award, Latin Grammy Award, MTV Video Music Award, and multiple BET Hip Hop Awards.

Last year, he was the subject of controversy over a fatal crowd crush incident at his Astroworld Festival held in his hometown of Houston, Texas.

Ten people died, 25 were hospitalized, and over 300 were treated for injuries at the festival. Footage of the incident showed Scott continue to perform while people called for help. His actions and slow response earned widespread condemnation.

At the Rolling Loud Thailand’s press conference in September, organizers promised it would announce a slew of big-name headliners from the United States come November.

Tickets are available via ThaiTicketMajor and run THB8,500-12,000. Installment payments will be available for those who can’t splash out all that scrilla at once.

Thailand will be the first Asian foray for the festival billed as hip-hop’s largest in the world. If anything, it is known for the occasional violence which has broken out since it first was held in 2015.
