Thailand will host the most-privileged behaving at their worst, and we’re not talking about a typical night in Thonglor.
Amid swirling rumors that the next season of black comedy-drama The White Lotus would take place in Asia, a Hollywood industry publication reported that it will take place in Thailand.
The kingdom will be the next destination for the hit show’s cast and crew, Variety reported this morning. The weekly magazine cited multiple sources close to the production – none identified – who said that the show’s third season will most likely take place at a Four Seasons hotel somewhere in Thailand.
While Four Seasons has locations in Bangkok, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai, its Koh Samui resort seems the most likely as it recently hosted series showrunner Mike White. HBO declined to comment to Variety.

Previous seasons were also island-based: Season 1 was set on Hawaii and Season 2 took place on Sicily. White has hinted that Season 3 might take place in Asia and focus on “death and Eastern religion and spirituality.” Hurray to more mass media Orientalism.
The White Lotus won 10 Emmy awards for its first season, including for outstanding limited or anthology series as well as supporting actress Jennifer Coolidge, who reprised her role in Season 2.
Earlier this year, Coolidge won a Golden Globe for Season 2, which also took home best limited series, anthology series or television motion picture.
