While everyone now seems to be gyrating to Baitoey R-Siam’s “splash out” dance routine, they may not know of the long history of Thailand’s pop dance trends and many other classic moves, from legendary pop stars to luk thung singers, which you might have done at some point in your life even though you were eight at the time.
And by classic, we’re talking J. Jettarin’s standing-in-the-bus move of 1991 and Triumph Kingdom’s handkerchief dance of 2000. And don’t ever forget about Tata Young, whom you might remember for her popular English-language songs “Dhoom Dhoom” and “Sexy Naughty Bitchy.” How many other teen starlets danced and sang about bugs in the 90s?
Youtube channel Tigercry has put together a history lesson-slash-retrospective of Thai dance moves since 1991, which have entertained us with their hilarious demonstrations. Enjoy.
