Looking for a weekend activity that doesn’t end in -flix or a hangover?
For one weekend only in December, design enthusiasts get free entry to see and discover some of the capital’s architectural wonders during an event dubbed Bangkok Bound, billed as Thailand’s first architecture showcase.
Among over 20 buildings opening their doors are Kloem Hostel – winner of a Design Excellence Award for best interior design this year – Chulalongkorn University’s Architecture Library, Thonglor community mall The Commons and Woodsmith Headquarters in the Bang Sue area.
The list goes on with Naiipa Art Complex — a mixed-use project near BTS Phra Khanong — Rama IX Road’s Redd Premium Self Storage and Hachi Serviced Apartment in Soi Lat Phrao 3.
Some venues will have tours led by architects and most require advance booking. The list of sites and booking system are available online.
Bangkok Bound 2019 runs 10am to 4pm on Dec. 14 and 15.
The event is organized by ArchiTracker, a mapping app for modern architecture created by Rubporn “Ponk” Memoli.
According to Ponk this morning, an estimated 2,400 people are expected to participate.
