This Sunday, neon signs, street food markets, shrines and temples in Bangkok’s Chinatown will become a backdrop for swing dancers who will take over the street for the night.

To conclude Bangkok Design Week, swing dancers will converge in the middle of Yaowarat or Chinatown to dance to legendary songs by late legendary Taiwanese singer-actress Teresa Teng.

Live band The Stumbling Swingout will play some of Teng’s songs in swing jazz style to accompany the swing dancers as they move their arms and legs. A parade and more “special shows” are expected at the event.

Anyone is free to join and encouraged to dress up in a cheongsam, qipao, suit, or any favorite Chinese costume of their choice. Admission is free.

The event will run from 8pm to 10pm this Sunday. More details are available online.
