Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport was ranked the fifth best airport in the world by a survey of passengers, at least when punching in its own weight class.
BKK placed fifth among a narrow field of nine such facilities serving 40 to 50 million passengers annually, coming behind Seoul Incheon, Kuala Lumpur, Madrid and San Francisco, according to results by Skytrax, one of those entities that seems to exist solely to issue results of surveys.
BKK ranked 47th overall globally and did not appear in the regional Top 10 for Asia.
Singapore’s Changi Airport was ranked best in the world.
Airport General Manager Prapon Pattamakitsakul expressed his thanks to all staff and the organization for their efforts to deliver the best services, according to state media.
The rankings were based on more than 13 million online surveys completed by passengers from around the world.
