Topgolf will swing into Bangkok next month to open its first branch in Southeast Asia.

Opening Aug. 17, sports and entertainment venue Topgolf Megacity will feature 102 golf hitting bays, a “golf academy,” and putting area as well as a rooftop bar, casual diner, and a wine and whisky-stocked lounge.

Players can use real golf clubs to score points by hitting microchipped golf balls at 11 giant in-ground targets on the 205-yard outfield. They can also play a wide selection of games to add fun to the experience, including classic Topgolf games, a virtual Angry Birds game, Jewel Jam, or virtual golf courses.

The first word about a Topgolf branch in Bangkok came last year with minimal details and a mid-2022 opening date.

The upcoming venue is marketed to be a place for anyone and for any occasion.

“It’s a great place for playing Topgolf games with friends and family, or for hosting parties and fun company team-building,” said Tim Boda, head of operations at Topgolf Thailand.

Drinks will be served at the rooftop Pink Giraffe bar, all-day dining will be served at The Patio, and serious drinkers can head into the Devil’s Lounge.

Guests can already book tee times, events and golf lessons. Games are priced from THB850 to THB1,450 by the hour per bay. Each bay can accommodate up to six players. New players must pay a one-time membership fee of THB150 (US$4). This includes unlimited balls, game analyses, and use of Topgolf clubs.

Topgolf Megacity is located inside Megacity, an upcoming mixed-use project with massive investment of over THB67 billion. The venue will open near the Mega Bangna shopping mall in Samut Prakan’s Bang Phli district.

Topgolf currently operates 70 venues in five countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai). With the Bangkok branch being the first in Southeast Asia, Topgolf developer TG SEA Development says that it intends to build other branches across the region: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam.
