A major downtown mall is hosting a 420 event that starts Thursday and promises to be lit.
The Cannex Asia 420 Community Event will unite weed enthusiasts at the EmQuartier shopping mall starting at 3:30pm to celebrate all things weed.
There will be buds, papers, and bongs as well as munchies from food vendors including pizzas from Gallery Pizza, wings and fries from DarWings, and sandwiches from Vivin Grocery and more.
Thursday will kick off with a comedy show at the Flamenco bar on the ninth floor of the Helix building, as well as live performances by DJs and a model show.
On Friday and Saturday, stoners can compete for prizes at the Cannex Asia Cannabis Cup and browse merchandise and accessories at a farmer’s marketplace in the fifth floor atrium area on the Helix’s fifth floor.
Contestants will compete for a prize pool of THB150,000 across 10 categories such as rolling joints, taking bong hits, and growing indoors and out.
On Friday and Saturday there will be smoking areas on the balcony and indoor VIP room, carnival games, guest speakers, performances from the likes of DaBoyWay, Dirty Magic Band, and Top Dojo Pro Wrestling.

Update: After this story was published, event organizers reached out to say that the event was at risk of being canceled by mall management. Despite announcing in a press release that the event would include a “Balcony Smoking Area,” “Indoor VIP Smoking Area,” and opportunity to “show off your smoking and rolling prowess in the Joint Rolling Contest and Bong Hit Contest,” organizers said Wednesday night that there would be no weed or smoking thereof at the “Cannex Asia 420 Community Event.”
