Find stylish face masks, savory jams, sweet-scented candles and more in a hidden downtown bar where a flea market-slash-charity event will raise money for those in the struggling food and beverage industry.
Herbal remedy-themed bar Philtration next month will lend its space for the first Bangkok Bartender Bazaar, a charity event where guests can eat, drink and shop from nearly 20 vendors offering everything from food and handicrafts to clothes and housewares. Half of all proceeds will go to support bartenders, waiters, chefs and those whose jobs have lost their jobs, had their pay cut or been placed on leave under lockdown measures that continue today.

While the market runs outside Philtration, those craving boozy release can duck down to the dungeon bar. Alcoholic beverages, sponsored by Tito’s Vodka, will be on special price.
Fifty percent of revenues will be pooled for distribution to eligible employees – bartenders, wait staff and the like – who sign up online. The initiative is the brainchild of Alchemy Spirits Thailand who seeks to host more editions of the event in the future.
Many lost their jobs or took pay cuts when Bangkok’s bars were closed over three months beginning in March due to the pandemic. They still must observe limitations such as a midnight closing time.
Admission to the event is free. The event will be cash-only, and visitors are encouraged to BYOB (bring your own bags).
Bangkok Bartender Bazaar will run from 5pm onward on Sept. 13 at Philtration. The (literally) underground bar known for serious cocktails with a medical twist is located inside Soi Kasem San 3 just a five-minute walk from BTS National Stadium. Parking is available at the venue.
