There’s no posted lineup of bands, no names of artists and not even an address for the venue.
That’s the idea behind Sofar Sounds: Everything is kept secret until the actual event, which will hold its second Bangkok outing on Sunday.
Pakarn Kiatpinyo, one of the organizers, said it’s an attempt to bring back some of the spontaneity and surprise of enjoying live performance to an generation spoiled by playlists and a fast-food menu approach to consuming music.
Attendance is free; attendees simply need to sign up online. Those who sign up will be notified one week before the show to confirm attendance, as well as 24 hours prior to the show with the location of the event.
Although music is the emphasis, Sofar’s shows feature not only bands, so be prepared for any type of live performance.
