Joggers and runners rejoice: A shopping mall in the upper Sukhumvits has opened an elevated running track.
Dubbed a “sky track,” the 101 Track opened to the public this month with a semi-outdoor route of 540 meters that wraps around the building.
To separate the slowpokes from the speed racers, the track is divided into color-coded lanes: gray for warm-ups, green for walking and jogging, and blue for what the venue describes as “continuous faster running.”
Since the venue is partially outdoors, and it’s probably going to rain for 100 years, expect some wet and slippery stretches.
All athletes must follow the arrows in a counterclockwise direction only. While there’s not much to see from the fourth-floor elevation, runners can get a thrilling glimpse of BTS Punnawithi and a pagoda of Wat Dhammamongkol.
Admission is free. Toilets, showers, and lockers are also available free of charge.
Athletes are asked to “dress appropriately”: No slip-on shoes nor running barefoot. Food is also not permitted, only “sports gel, snacks, and drinks” may be consumed in the space.
How to get there?
Get off BTS Punnawithi and walk into the 101 True Digital Park. Head toward True Coffee cafe before turning left to the elevators. Go up the 4th floor and follow the sign that reads “101 Track.”
The 101 Track is open 7am until 9pm every day. It’s located on the fourth floor inside the 101 True Digital Park mall.
