Richard Gere honors King Bhumibol Adulyadej at Thai temple in India (PHOTOS)

American actor Richard Gere, who is a devoted Buddhist, spoke about Thailand’s late King Bhumibol Adulyadej during his visit to a Thai temple in Kushinagar, in the northeast of India.

During his in pilgrimage through India, the 67-year-old Hollywood star met and discussed Dhamma with the abbot of Royal Thai Monastery Kushinagar on Sunday, where he also spoke about the late king, according to the temple’s Facebook post.

Gere reportedly said he admired late King Bhumibol who was a dedicated Buddhist and a great king who cared for his people. He said the late king initiated over 4,000 development projects during his reign and that he was the most hard-working king in the world.

Abbot Phra Thammapothiwong gave Gere blessings in his life and career before the actor left the monastery.
