Three Thai music divas shared their opinions on Lady Gaga recently with newspaper ThaiRath.
Some had a little constructive criticism for the Monster Mommy, who is performing her Born This Way Ball at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on May 25, but overall they are big fans!
Luk thung singer and actress Yaya Ying, when asked if there was anything she doesn’t like about Lady Gaga, said:
What do I not like about Lady Gaga? There is nothing about her that I do not like. I love almost everything about her. But I think she should have some limits. This is my perspective. However, her unlimited boldness is what has led her to succeed. I think there will only ever be one Lady Gaga in this world, so if we try to be like her we will fail. So, I think there is no limit for her in this world.
When asked what she thinks about people who knock Gaga for copying other singers, especially Madonna, Yaya Ying had this to say:
Actually, we cannot say who copies who. Lady Gaga is an abnormality. Gaga cannot run away from being sexy and the clearest example of being a sexy lady is Madonna. So, I believe she is not trying to be like Madonna. The thing that makes Lady Gaga different from everyone else is her music.
Meanwhile, singer and model Katreeya English said that she admires Gaga with all her heart:
There’s nothing I don’t really like about her. I think she is confident and it’s good. There are some other things about her that people may like or not, but I think people can’t judge her. I think it is great that she is herself not afraid of anybody. She is unique. And what makes people remember her? It is because she is herself. I like everything about her, OK. She is just being herself. (Laughs).
About that confidence, popular radio DJ Aung-Salinee Panyarachun did have some criticism of the famous meat dress she wore to the 2010 MTV Music Awards. She said there is nothing about her that she doesn’t like but that she was a little disturbed by the dress, which she found terrifying.
The dress is just a little bit too sexy for me and implies violence. It is too much for me to see her showing off so much of her body! But it’s OK I know it’s to be colorful for fashion. I think she did not like it either because she only wore it one time. (Laughs).
When asked about her music though, DJ Aung-Salinee had nothing but praise:
About her work. I must say I adore her. She is an amazing creature. I mean in this era it is not easy to make your work becomes famous to the world. It’s very difficult! Because there was everything in this world now, sort of accidentally she has this craziness that people like. People love her work. It is not only one country, not only the beggars, but even the royal people, even Queen Elisabeth II met her. She is the people’s singer. It is quite rare to find someone like this, I mean, she is a perfect harmonization of craziness combined with music!
So if she loves Gaga so much, has she ever flown somewhere to see her live?
Never. Even at the Venetian in Macau. It is good that she will come to Thailand, oh yeah!
