While Thailand is as famous for its counterfeit games as the internet is for Pirate Bay, a lot of today’s AAA titles are best enjoyed online, and that means having the real deal.
Whether you want to discover your Destiny in the stars, join fellow Creeders to cooperatively assassinate French nobility, level your shaman to 1,000 in Draenor or just answer the call of duty to shoot many mans, you’re gonna need a reg code.
One might seek the secret cheat code to unlock the motherload of authentic gaming titles, but it’s not that difficult to buy reasonably priced console and PC games without going to the overpriced counters at your local Central Wherever.
The best place to find console games is the fifth floor of Digital Gateway at Siam Square. There you’ll find stores like Nadz Project, Super-Rich, and Itemgameshop. These places offer zero-day titles on every console (PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and One, Nintendo Wii U) and handheld game-slaves such as the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. Most of these shops also sell used titles.
Other places that also stock a lesser selection of console games are Art and Gun Games located on the sixth floor of MBK Center and InGame near BTS Ari.
Don’t fret, PC gamers are not forgotten in Bangkok’s gaming culture. With the rise of the Digital (Content) Age however, discs are quickly becoming a thing of the past as everything becomes a digital download. However, those retaining a packaging fetish or lusting for the cloth map and trinkets from the Supreme Completionist Edition can hit i27 CD-ROM on the fourth floor at MBK Center. It has a variety of authentic PC games from the latest shooters and racers to those obscure strategy titles from Paradox Studios. Prices are reasonable compared to other shops in Bangkok, and there are often discounts for older games. (Many expat residents will be pleased at the special Thai pricing for many of the games.)
For those just IN TOO DEEP to venture into meatspace or busy finishing your promos in League of Legends, many of these shops have online platforms where you can order them delivered to your door.
