It was a classic question that everyone who gets behind the wheel eventually faces.
“Do you want me to help you or fine you?” the officer helpfully asks.
But this time, the exchange from Tuesday was secretly recorded and posted online by Facebook user “Paeboy Indy” when he was stopped by an officer who offered to help him escape punishment.
From the video, it seems Paeboy was pulled over because he was carrying passengers in his truck’s cab, which didn’t have a roof ‒ an infraction that could result in an expensive fine.
“If you carry passengers, the cab has to have a roof,” the officer says. “The punishment is a THB6,000 fine. Do you want me to help you or fine you? Just tell me and I’ll proceed.”
When the driver hesitated, the dealmaking officer offered him a special discount.
“If you want me to help you, give me THB500 because I have to erase your image from the CCTV.”
The driver then said he didn’t even have THB500.
“Raise money from your friends then. There are so many of you,” the cop said. “I can’t give you a ticket because your driver’s license is not even legal.”
Who knew that avoiding a ticket was as simple as not having a valid driver’s license?
The user didn’t specify what was invalid about his license, and the video ended with the officer asking the driver to step out of the vehicle.
