Thailand is about to be represented in a massively popular online game with a Thai hero who just happens to also be a “plant-based pansexual.”
Blizzard Entertainment announced that Overwatch 2’s 37th character will be Niran Pruksamanee, aka Lifeweaver, who is described in reports as a celebration of Thai culture and is shown holding a lotus flower in a character portrait.
It’s believed the playable support character for the squad-based FPS will be released next week to coincide with the Thai New Year festival of Songkran, with a trailer expected to drop tomorrow.
He is described as using a power called Biolight to heal teammates and build structures such as platforms to carry players to higher ground. His “Tree of Life” power creates a big tree that heals and protects the squad.
It isn’t the first time Thailand was represented in the franchise. The original Overwatch added a map in February 2018 that took place in Ayutthaya to celebrate Lunar New Year.
