1. Embrace monkeys.

What better way to celebrate the Yuletide spirit than by embracing local animal life? There are no reindeers here, but macaque monkeys abound throughout the province, as well as a wide variety of lizards and insect life. You may not want to embrace the latter specimens though.

2. Khao Sok National Park. Period.

Technically in Surat Thani province but only a few hours from Krabi Airport, this is one of the most breathtaking attractions in all of Thailand. The centerpiece is a 16 5 square kilometer reservoir surrounded by soaring limestone cliffs. Wildlife abounds here too, with countless species or birds soaring the skies and sun bears and tapirs roaming the forests.
3. Submerge.

Take a longtail boat from Ao Nang or Railay into Phang Nga Bay for a snorkel sessions. Marvel at the multi-colored sea life below the surface. You can call these your Christmas ornaments.
4. Get crabby.

Forget about that Christmas goose and gorge yourself on crabs. Southern Thai food is famous throughout the Kingdom for the tongue tingling combination of fresh seafood with local fruits and vegetables like sator (stinkbean) or coconut, and wrapped together with insane levels of spice. How about an order of kanom jeen nam ya poo, a rich yellow crab meat curry served with vermicelli rice noodles and fresh vegetables. Or perhaps you might be interested in bai leang pad kai poo, local greens stir-fried with egg and chunky crab meat? Best might be to order them both together. The local restaurants of Krabi Town are probably the most authentic places around to sample these delights, but most hotels can probably make
5.Get high.

Go climbing! The cliffs of Railay Bay are some of the most famous climbing grounds in the world. Even hardened professionals are challenged by these sheer limestone faces, but beginners are welcome too and the area boasts many climbing shops offering lessons. Just make sure to have some Tiger Balm ready for the aftermath.
6. Have a Phi Phi New Year.

Count down to 2015 with a raging dance party on the beach of a Thai island, toes in the sand and head in the sky. New Year’s Eve always goes off on this breathtaking island, and every bar, club and hotel will be rockin’.
