In the face of changing inbound traveler demographics to Thailand, Holiday Inn has opened it’s first Holiday Inn Express location in Siam Square recently.
The induction of this mid range hotel comes at a time when travelers are seeking options that represent more value than the abundant luxury options available in Bangkok already. This is the first hotel of the Holiday Inn Express sub-brand in Southeast Asia.
“Whether you’re here for leisure or business, it’s a smart place for a traveller who’s not looking for anything complicated.” said Ashwani Bajaj, the managing director of Amburaya Hotels and Resorts.
The brand is looking for rapid growth in the region, with an expected 12 more locations opening within the next two years, reports The Bangkok Post.
The business model of the new hotel is aimed at cutting costs and increasing efficiency. Reducing the number of people needed to run the hotel is allowing the business to reduce overhead costs, jobs are hired to outside contractors in order to increase efficiency. The Holiday Inn Express Bangkok has no kitchen and only 24 employees, for example.
The price for a room at the Siam Square hotel is roughly THB2,000 per night.
