Lady Gaga arrives in Bangkok, fans go coconuts

Lady Gaga arrived at Don Muang Airport last night around 6:30pm, sending hundreds of fans who braved rain and traffic to greet her into hysterics.

The pop star strutted out from the private jet section of the airport in a full-length body-hugging black leather dress, massive sunglasses (obviously) and her hair in a bun. She shook hands and took photos with a few hysterical fans (under the watchful eye of her enormous bodyguard) before hopping in a chauffeured BMW and heading to the St. Regis Hotel on Rajadamri, which seems to be the go-to spot for celebs in BKK with Ryan Gosling And Eva Mendes staying there earlier this year.

Upon arriving, Lady Gaga sent out a tweet to her 24.59 million followers (the most of any Twitter user in the world) saying, “I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50,000 screaming Thai monsters. I wanna get lost in a lady market and buy fake Rolex.”

Already the tweet has generated some criticism, with some saying the star reinforced negative stereotypes about Bangkok’s sex and counterfeit goods industries. And what is a lady market anyways?

Lady Gaga will perform her Born This Way Ball tomorrow night at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok. Coconuts will have complete coverage!

Skip to around the 0:45 point of the below video for some weeping fan footage.
