AirAsia will move its Bangkok flights from Suvarnabhumi to Don Meuang Airport by October.
Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia, made the announcement of the move today together with officials from Airports of Thailand.
“The un-congested Don Mueang Airport is sure to prove a benefit to AirAsia when it boosts its fleet of Airbus A320s to a total of 48 and welcomes more customers. The airport’s location also makes it conducive to further travel. Prospective travelers should have confidence in what Don Mueang has to offer,” Tassapon said, according to the Nation.
Tassapon said that they are aiming to run all Air Asia flights out of Don Mueang by October 1. If we remember correctly (and we do) Don Mueang was under water last October. Let’s hope that’s not the case again in 2012.
