Another shopping mall, “Central Plaza Mahachai” is set to open in Samut Sakorn, the province southwest of Bangkok, on Nov. 23.
As the name suggests, the mall is located not far from the famous Mahachai seafood market, which is a major seat in Thailand’s fishing industry and employs thousands of migrant workers.
Like other malls in Thailand that have distinct concepts such as “the biggest,” the “most creative,” or just having the most trees, Central Mahachai takes inspiration from the province’s seafood hub status and was built to look like a giant fishing boat.
Not only that, its toilets are also inspired by the fishing village. Now squint your eyes and try to spot the resemblance.
The THB5 billion Central Mahachai has a total of 150,000 square meters of retail space. It aims to become the “Center of Lifestyle” for Samut Sakorn residents.
Besides Central standby stores, such as B2S, Powerbuy, Supersports, and a cinema, the mall will have the “Eatalay” zone selling fresh seafood from the port.
Located by the highway to Bangkok, the mall also aims to be a pitstop for travelers by offering nice toilets and extra spaces for cars and tour buses.
